Cora + Justin Armstrong | Hillside Manor Wedding | Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

A month ago, these two weirdos got married! Now before you’re all like, “Ashley, you can’t just call your clients weirdos,” know this: weirdo is probably the highest compliment I will ever give a person. Plus, life and love are just a little bit (lot a bit) weird, wouldn’t you agree?

“We're all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.” Robert Fulghum

Theirs was one of those weddings where I sort of fall in love with the idea of love all over again. Seeing them together makes you feel something otherworldly: magic and stardust and all those feelings you get when you read a really great poem about love and forever. And their first dance, y’all, I might have gotten teary eyed a few times (and for the first time in my life, wished I knew anything about videography). When the wedding reception begins with salsa lessons, you know it’s gonna be a fun night.

Emilie + Chris | Southwind Hills Enchanted Forest Wedding | Norman, Oklahoma Wedding Photographers

I hadn't met Emilie or Chris before their wedding day, and to say I was pleasantly surprised by this entire day would be an understatement. This wedding was not only one of the most gorgeous weddings I've attended (who could expect any less at Southwind Hills?) but it was also a friggin' blast. Weddings like these always remind me why I do what I do because at the end of the day my mouth hurts from smiling and laughing.

Miranda & B.J. | Ouachita Forest Wedding | Norman & SE Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

Oh my! I just adore this wedding, you guys. Miranda & BJ are from the Norman area and just so happened to be getting married in Southeastern Oklahoma, which most of you know, is where I grew up! We were a match made in heaven. Just like 90% of the weddings I've shot in my career, it was supposed to rain the day of their wedding, but somehow luck was on our side and the clouds cleared for most of the day, and the weather and lighting were magnificent. There was a cool breeze, the air smelled of wildflowers and sunshine, and the song of the cicadas was all you could hear.

Miranda and BJ ordered a ton of used saris from Etsy and that's how they made the majority of their decor, which turned out so beautifully. I got to spend most of the day with them and watch as their closest friends and family readied the entire space for them, which was so lovely.

One thing I love about small weddings, aside from the obvious love that everyone has for the couple, is the freedom we have with scheduling. I got to take Miranda and BJ to some really gorgeous places I saw while traveling to them that I typically wouldn't get to do if we were on a tighter schedule. We got so many great photo opportunities and I'm beyond excited to share them with you. I hope you love these as much as I do. <3

Intimate July Wedding | Myriad Botanical Gardens | Skirvin Reception

I'm really excited to share this wedding with you all from last July! I love, love, love a small wedding gathering, and the mood and scenery for this particular wedding was just so absolutely perfect. The flowers were in full bloom at the Myriad Gardens, the trees and grass were bright green and the sun was just setting as the cool summer evening set in. After five I dos, a kiss, a quick stop at Flint in the Colcord for drinks, these two headed off to their fun & food filled reception at the Skirvin

Elissa & Jay | Winter Creek Golf Course Wedding | Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

Elissa & Jay were wed on a beautiful day in May. Their wedding took place at the gorgeous Winter Creek Golf and Country Club in Blanchard, Oklahoma. As I was driving in, the fields were covered in wild flowers and I immediately got googly eyed.  When it came time for the ceremony, the blue sky was filled with white fluffy clouds that created an absolutely perfect backdrop for their "I dos." They danced the night away surrounded by their friends and family and became the most adorable family of three. Congratulations, Elissa & Jay!

Hayley & Saben | The Pasture at Willows Ranch | Broken Bow, Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

I am so excited to share this wedding with you guys. Hayley and Saben got married in my hometown of Broken Bow at one of my favorite venues, The Pasture at Willows Ranch.  They said their vows surrounded by giants pine trees with the twinkling sun setting behind them. The day was filled with so much love and laughter and the weather could not have been more perfect.

Their details were the perfect blend of traditional and rustic with pink peonies (my FAVORITE) and cream roses and lots and lots of sparkles! I really wish Hayley didn't live all the way in Dallas, because if she lived closer I would force her to be my new bff.

The Grand Canadian Theater | OKCs Newest Wedding Venue Promo Shoot | Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

I am so excited to share with you guys the newest venue in the OKC Metro area: The Grand Canadian Theater in Historic Downtown Purcell. I brought together some of the best wedding vendors in Oklahoma to help with this shoot and I have to say, I think it couldn't have turned out better! Tony Foss Flowers made the amazing bouquet, boutonniere and centerpieces that were complimented beautifully by the amazing dinnerware from Vintage Tabletop Rental. Brown Egg Bakery was fabulous enough to provide our cake and Dapper Guy Bowties lent us the beautiful silk bowtie worn by our groom that accompanied the classic tux from Tuxedo Warehouse OKC. Moliere Bridal brought the most amazing blush ball gown I've ever seen designed by Justin Alexander (STILL OBSESSING) and Alumni Productions was there to film the entire shoot.

The Grand Canadian Theater was originally a movie theater in the heart of Purcell before becoming an antique shop for as long as I've been visiting there. I have a secret obsession with historical buildings so as soon as I heard it was becoming a wedding venue, I began stalking the internet for signs of it being completed. The entire venue is beyond gorgeous. It's classic with a touch of rustic and midcentury, and can be styled to fit with any bride's wedding. Contact Gisela at events@thegrandcanadiantheater.com to take a tour and book your wedding before they're all booked up! As soon as you see it, I know you'll all be sold just like I was (too bad I've already had my wedding).

Are you getting married? Send me an email and say hi to see if I'm available on your wedding date! I would love to hear from you.
